This album is a compilation of Jim Morrison’s poems, his personal recordings, his spoken words and earlier songs which he’d left at the time of dying. It was compiled in 1978, seven years after Jim Morrison died and five years after the remaining members of the band broke up.
My friend, Ajit Menon (who now plays in a band too), first picked up this album way back (1998), and we were in absolute heaven after hearing it for the first time… it was like a much needed unwind experience at the time when we were spending sleepless nights in office in order to accomplish some critical projects … The best thing about this album is that you can hear this nonstop from the beginning till the end … and then repeat it again for another great kickstart … first quarter of the album boosts your spirits up, while ending puts it down …. we were really hooked onto it for some months ahead … ah .. I miss those days.
This album has some great dialogues, statements, and poetry… enough to base a movie on? now that comes from my picture blog ‘a moment’s life‘ which has an introduction starting from Morrison’s words ‘Did you have a good world when you died? Enough to base a movie on?‘

When I was extreme young (biological age, not my state of mind :), we had no choice but to watch what our parents were watching, though back in that time all amitabh bachchan flicks used to make huge entertainment, some movies & legends made a distinction to my mind these were 1. Pyaasa by Guru Dutt, 2. Guide, and 3. Hare Rama Hare Krishna. The best thing about these movies are that once you see them they kind of reside in your mind like you’ve just seen it yesterday …
Also, there is something similar among these three movies, i.e., sometimes you want something very badly but it does not come to you … but they all get near to their goal, but does it work out, to what extent? The ending is what makes each movie different. (no spoilers for those who have not watched it yet)

I saw Pyaasa appx 25 years back, but the line which stuck to my head was ‘Yeh duniya mil bhi jaaye to kya hai’ .. i.e., ‘what difference does it make even if you get the entire world’ (we all are going to die in the end) …
Pyaasa … tells the story of struggling poet, Vijay (Guru Dutt), trying to make his works known in post-independence India. Gulabo (Waheeda Rehman in her first major leading role in Hindi cinema), a prostitute with a heart of gold,[1] eventually helps him get his poems published. The music was composed by S.D. Burman.
In 2002, Pyaasa was ranked at #160 on the Sight & Sound critics’ and directors’ poll for all-time greatest films.[2] In 2005, Pyaasa was rated as one of the 100 best films of all time by Time Magazine, which called it “the soulfully romantic of the lot.”[3] Indiatimes Movies ranks the movie amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films.
Guide is a 1965 Hindi film starring Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman. It was directed by Vijay Anand, who also contributed with the screenplay. The film is based on the critically acclaimed novel, The Guide, by R. K. Narayan, and is widely considered to be one of the masterpieces of the Indian film industry.[1]
The film proved to be a box office hit upon release [2]. This movie proved memorable for its award-winning performances by the lead actors and memorable music by S. D. Burman.
A 120-minute U.S. version was made with additional directing and writing. It was produced by Tad Danielewski. The film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007, 42 years after its release.

Hare Rama Hare Krishna is a 1971 Indian film directed by Dev Anand starring himself and Zeenat Aman. The film was a hit[1] and a star-making vehicle for Zeenat Aman, who played a westernized hippie, and won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award,[2], as well as the BFJA Award for Best Actress.[3]. The movie dealt with the decadence of the Hippie culture. It aimed to have an anti-drug message and also depicts some problems associated with Westernization such as divorce.

I have been thinking of writing about the content I watch / read / listen in my day to day life, which influence me to certain extent, so that’s it … instead of mixing up with my existing blog, which is more like a log of the journey of my life, I chose to start another one, where the basic idea was to have a ready reckoner for myself and for me to recommend content to my loved ones … after all it is becoming extremely important these days how not to read bad content / and not watch bad movies than watching good movies and reading good books. ?
